Development of biofidelic test-beds for assessing human interactions

Many studies that assess products’ physical interactions with people (e.g. friction of skin, transmission of vibration) require human subject testing. This gives rise to many challenges such as repeatability and ethical considerations, as well as the significant costs and time required.

This project is concerned with developing physical biofidelic test-beds that combine the appropriate materials and geometries to mimic the relevant properties of human systems (e.g. mechanical, tribological, dynamic), in order to remove the need for human testing.
