The National Student Survey (NSS) is an annual survey that asks final year students for their views on key aspects of their university experience, including learning and teaching, assessments and feedback, academic support, learning resources and the Students’ Union.

"It’s really important to us to listen to the views of our students in order to inform our future work. The National Student Survey provides valuable insight upon which we can enhance the student experience and I’m delighted that so many of our subjects at the University have been ranked as the best in the UK for student satisfaction".

Professor Wyn Morgan

Vice-President for education

The Department of Music has worked hard to place the student voice at the centre of teaching practices, and to systematically embed students' feedback and perspectives in department processes. The Department of Music has an active body of student reps, and we are proud to have an environment which allows every student to have a voice.

The University as a whole also had positive results, with the results showing that overall satisfaction among University of Sheffield students is nearly three per cent above the national sector-wide average.
