Get ready for Sheffield by completing your to-do list tasks.
If you’re an international student, there are a few extra things to do before you arrive. Check the international student checklist.

5 weeks to go
15 August - 21 August
Complete online pre-registration phase one.
Complete your online tasks.
Celebrate your success and get involved on social media!
Find your flatmates, coursemates, and meet loads of other new students through the University of Sheffield's new students Facebook group.
If you are a part-time or distance learning student, your registration process is different.
Sort your accommodation, if you haven’t already done so.
Look out for an email containing instructions on accessing your IT account, and follow the steps.
4 weeks to go
22 August - 28 August
Get your tickets for Welcome Week 2022 including freshers events and nights out.
Start to think about what you need to pack.
Set up a student bank account.
Inform us of any accessibility requirements.
Speak to the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service
3 weeks to go
29 August - 4 September
Complete online pre-registration phase two.
Complete your online tasks.
From 2 September: If you have optional modules for your course, you must choose them to complete phase two of your online pre-registration.
After completing online pre-registration
Once you complete online pre-registration, follow the instructions to book your in-person ID check for when you arrive.
If you are a part-time or distance learning student, your registration process is different - you do not need to attend an in-person registration event
Register with the University Health Service if you haven’t already.
- If you haven’t already, we recommend getting your MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) and MenACWY (Meningitis) vaccinations.
- Please remember to bring any current medications you take with you and make sure you have enough for your first few weeks.
Complete your Financial Declaration and plan your finances.
Prepare for moving into our accommodation.

Take a look at our Clubs and Societies to explore what you could get involved with.
Get to know the city of Sheffield.
Ask questions - if you need support you can get advice from Student Services.
1 week to go
12 September - 18 September
Get involved in Orientation Week - online or on-campus.
Make sure you’ve completed your online pre-registration phase one and phase two tasks - these need to be done before you arrive.
Download iSheffield, the University of Sheffield’s mobile and web app that allows you to access everything you need during your academic studies, including your timetable.
1 day to go
Check you have your new address and know how to get here.
Make sure you have everything packed.
Know how to reach us if you need anything.

Attend your in-person ID check to pick up your UCard and complete your registration.
If you are receiving funding from Student Finance, you must complete an in-person ID check to receive your loan.
If you are a part-time or distance learning student, you do not need to attend an in-person registration event.
- Register with the University Health Service

Register with the University Health Service if you haven’t already.
We recommend getting your MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) and MenACWY (Meningitis) vaccinations.
If you haven’t had these vaccinations yet and would like them, please attend the University Health Service Registration event at the Modular Village (Northumberland Road) when you arrive in Sheffield.

Attend the Freshers' Fair on 19 and 20 September and bag yourself some freebies from over 40 of your favourite brands, slices of Domino’s pizza, and lots of useful info to help you get settled in Sheffield.
Check out the Activities Fair on 21 and 22 September and meet 200+ student clubs and societies!
Explore the Sports Fair on 23 September and meet more than 50 sports clubs and find out about all the sport and fitness opportunities on offer.

If you didn’t apply during online registration, you can still apply for a mentor (student log-in required).

Start getting to know the University libraries and how to use them.
Teaching for the majority of programmes will begin on 26 September 2022. You should aim to have arrived in Sheffield and completed your registration before this date so that you are able to begin your studies from the start of term. Your last possible start date is 17 October 2022.
If your course has an earlier start date than 26 September 2022 you will have a different last possible start date
