Meet and Greet service: September 2026

The University will be running a Meet and Greet (airport pick-up) service from Manchester Airport to the University of Sheffield on selected dates in September 2026.

Overview

The service is offered to all new international students.

Coaches will take students from Manchester Airport to the University campus area in Sheffield.

What will happen on the day

Students will be met at Manchester Airport and accompanied to Sheffield by members of our student Ambassador team.

After your flight has landed:

Go through immigration control and collect any hold luggage. This can take some time, which is why we allow two hours.
Follow the signs to the airport coach and train station.
You will come to our ‘Welcome Zone’ just before you reach the airport coach and train stations, where you will be met by our University student Ambassadors wearing purple t-shirts with the ‘University of Sheffield’ logo.

More detailed information will be sent once you have booked your place.

If your flight is delayed and you miss your coach, please speak to a student ambassador and they will try to get you a space on the next available one. If there are no spaces available, or you were booked onto the last coach of the day, you may need to make your own travel arrangements.

The journey takes approximately two hours, depending on traffic. Coaches will stop at our Endcliffe accommodation village and a central campus location.

Once on campus, student ambassadors will be available to help you arrange onward travel to your accommodation. The cost of any onward travel is not included in the Meet and Greet price.

We expect 2026 bookings to go live in May 2026.

Luggage

Luggage space on the coaches is limited, so where possible we ask that you restrict your luggage to two items in addition to your cabin bag.

We will do our best to accommodate all reasonable luggage requests. If you're bringing more than two pieces of luggage, contact us at meetandgreet@sheffield.ac.uk.

Orientation week

Orientation week is an optional week of activities aimed at new and current students and is running from Monday 14 September to Friday 18 September 2026. If this is something you want to get involved with, you will need to plan your travel accordingly.
