As the crisis in Afghanistan develops, the University of Sheffield stands in solidarity with those affected. We will continue to offer our support, and we have been in touch with members of our community that we understand to have been directly impacted.

For forced migrants seeking sanctuary in Sheffield, we’ll continue our work with partners in the region including Sheffield City Council, ASSIST, and City of Sanctuary Sheffield to provide a warm welcome and the support needed to help rebuild lives.

All students affected by the situation in Afghanistan can also contact the UKCISA Student Advice Line on +442077889214 (Mon-Fri except bank holidays, 13:00 - 16:00 UK time).

Information on evacuation routes for British and non-British nationals can be found on the Home Office website

The Universities of Sanctuary have also issued a statement, available on their website

At the University of Sheffield we have a long history of supporting forced migrants and those seeking sanctuary, and we are resolute in our commitment to this community and the value it brings, enriching our organisation and broadening our global view.
