Sociology offer holder days
As part of your offer holder day at Sheffield, you'll be spending some quality time getting to know the Department of Sociological Studies and your chosen course.
Arriving at the department
You will have booked to visit us 10am to 12.30pm or 2pm to 4.30pm on your offer holder day. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.
Your arrival location is: Lecture Theatre 4 in the The Wave. You can view this on our interactive campus map, and there will also be lots of open day staff and ambassadors around campus to assist you.
If you arrive late for your booked session, please report to the general information stand on the Students’ Union concourse, where event staff will be able to help.
When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at the department activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department will be unable to accommodate any additional unbooked visitors.
However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the department activities are running.

Welcome and Department Talk In our first session, a member of academic staff from our Sociology team will give an overview of our department and detailed talk on the Sociology programmes we have to offer. There will be an opportunity to ask questions to our panel of staff and student ambassadors. |

Taster Seminar for Students (at the same time as the parent/supporter Q&A) Experience a taste of what our seminars have to offer. Our recent PhD graduates, now Teaching Associates will deliver an interactive session on a sociological topic. |

Q&A Session for Parents/Carers and Supporters (at the same time as the student seminar) An opportunity for parents, carers and guests to ask questions to our academic staff. |

Taster Seminars
You'll take part in one taster seminar related to your chosen course to give you a real taste of what it's like to be a student in the Department of Sociological Studies.
There will be a choice of taster sessions to attend, each developed by our current PhD students. There will be a focus on different sociological topics, designed to ignite your curiosity and encourage you to exchange ideas and have thought provoking discussions with fellow participants.
Parents and Supporters Q&A
An opportunity for parents, carers & supporters to ask questions and speak to current students and staff about the exciting opportunities that are available to you and where a degree from Sheffield can lead.
