Our technical staff network, TechNet, exists to increase the visibility of technicians, provide opportunities for networking and sharing good practice, and to support colleagues to learn about other areas of the University.

Established in 2014 by two University technicians, Natalie Kennerley and Melanie Hannah, the network welcomes colleagues from all disciplines and areas of the University, technical and non technical.

The network runs quarterly networking events as well as one social event every year with opportunities for colleagues to showcase their work and celebrate their successes.

TechNet events are influenced by the talented technicians working at our University and have included: a TechNet tours week; a showcase of the talented technicians; a focus on sustainability, wellbeing, and careers; a look at technical involvement in capital equipment purchasing; and a focus on achievements during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The network also has an online forum, which is a quick and easy way to connect with colleagues, share ideas, and discuss best practice.
