Why did you decide to study this degree programme?

I chose MA Heritage and Archaeology as my degree programme for the multitude of options that the programme offered for my desired career in archaeology, I also wanted to continue working and studying in one of the world's best archaeology departments.

What did you enjoy most about your course and the subject you were studying?

Archaeology is one of the only disciplines equipped to understand some of the world's biggest questions, both in the past and the questions about how we navigate the modern world.

What attracted you to the University of Sheffield?

I was attracted to the University of Sheffield due to the historic standing of the department and the successes of the department in recent years.

What did you do when you finished your degree at Sheffield?

During my PG studies the department did everything possible to support students throughout the pandemic, creating a supportive and encouraging environment. When I finished my studies I began working in commercial archaeology across a number of projects, such as infrastructure and housing developments. Helping to mitigate the impact of development on archaeological and heritage assets. After which I began working for Landgage Heritage as an archaeology consultant assisting in development matters in a way that is thoughtful and considerate of archaeological and heritage assets.

How did the department and/or University help you to work towards reaching your goals after graduation?

After graduation, the department was incredibly helpful in helping me achieve my goals of working in consultancy; the quality of teaching I received across both of my degrees from the Department of Archaeology was immensely helpful in moving from the field to consultancy.

What do you like most about working in Sheffield?

Working in Sheffield is fantastic, there is so much happening in terms of culture, food and drink, sport, and the proximity of the Peak District is such a bonus.
