Caroline Oates.

Dr Caroline Oates and her colleagues have recently published a chapter in the Handbook on Pro-Environmental Behaviour Change (Elgar, 2023), edited by Birgitta Gatersleben and Niamh Murtagh. The chapter is entitled ''Cut from the same cloth? Understanding behavioural consistency in energy and clothes shopping.”

In this chapter, the authors draw on qualitative research on behavioural consistency when people shop between two different spheres to show how consistency in goal structures suggests that interventions targeting one area may spill over to another non-targeted behaviour(s). They also identify and discuss implications for structural and psychological interventions in promoting a greater desire to consume more morally.

The Handbook on Pro-Environmental Behaviour Change is currently available for purchase from Edward Elgar Publishing.
