Professor in Text Analytics Awarded Membership to DCMS College of Experts

Professor Kalina Bontcheva from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield has become a member of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports’ (DCMS) College of Experts.

Professor Kalina Bontcheva has become a member of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports’ (DCMS) College of Experts.

The DCMS College of Experts is a government funded initiative that brings together 49 experts from across academia and industry to help advise UK government policymakers in key areas including Digital Infrastructure, Digital and Technical policy and Cyber Security. 

The three year appointment of Professor Bontcheva is in recognition of her expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and their applications in analysing online abuse and disinformation. 

On becoming a member of the College of Experts, Professor Bontcheva says “I’m delighted to have been recruited to the DCSM College of Experts. My expertise will help advise UK government policymakers and will support DCMS with its work to drive growth and quality of life in the UK.”
