There are a number of funding opportunities available from the University and external funders for prospective postgraduate research students. Please follow the links below for more information.

University funded

Doctoral Academy & University Prize Scholarships

These scholarships fund a PhD student to complete a research project within the Faculty, covering a stipend (at the RCUK rate) and home/EU fees only.

Please note, the Faculty Scholarships recruitment has now closed until Autumn 2017.

Deadlines vary across departments, please check project listings for details. No projects advertised until next recruitment round.
University of Sheffield Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Collaborative Studentships Collaborative studentships with key commercial and other external partners. Open to UK and EU candidates only. These studentships fund collaborative projects between the University and industry. Projects available under this scheme will be uploaded to our projects page as they arise. Please ask your prospective supervisor for information on how to apply. Applications all year round.

Some courses offer bursaries which are competitively awarded to the brightest applicants. Please contact your prospective department, course lead or administrator to see if any funding is available for your course.     If you are applying for Postgraduate Research study, please speak to your prospective supervisor if you would like to apply for funding via an external body.

European funding

The European Funding Guide is looking for adventurous and open-minded students to apply for one of eight “Dream NEW” Scholarships, worth 7,500 € each. These scholarships enable students to study for one semester at any one of eight world-class universities in New Zealand – a country known for its excellent forward-thinking education system, breathtaking landscapes and open-minded people.
