The team behind the forecast was funded by insurance firm AXA XL’s Ocean Risk Scholarships programme and includes Professor Grant Bigg and Jennifer Ross at the University of Sheffield, Dr Yifan Zhao at Cranfield University and Professor Robert Marsh at the University of Southampton.
Professor Edward Hanna of the University of Lincoln provided data for the Greenland Ice Sheet surface mass balance, which is used within the model.
