Postdocs and Fellowships
We are always looking for excellent postdocs and research fellows. Feel free to contact us if you want to discuss current and future possibilities in the Hearing Research group. We also provide support for fellowship applications.
Current opportunities
Up to 2 postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Walter Marcotti:
We are interested in understanding the molecular and physiological mechanisms responsible for the development and function of the mammalian auditory organ and its wiring. The proposed projects will range from the understanding of the mechanisms underpinning the function and dysfunction of mechanoelectrical transduction to the identification of the molecular profiling of spiral ganglion neurons using a combination of techniques including electrophysiology, 2P confocal imaging, gene therapy, single-cell gene transcriptomic applied to several transgenic mouse models.
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in sensory systems and with expertise in electrophysiological techniques. The appointee will get the opportunity to contribute significantly to the ongoing research by designing, developing and performing experiments, data analysis and disseminating the findings by writing papers and presenting work at conferences.
The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary and vibrant environment with several additional postdocs and PhD students present within the Hearing Research group at Sheffield.
Preliminary enquiries, together with a CV, should be sent to Walter Marcotti (w.marcotti@sheffield.ac.uk).
