I have had the opportunity of meeting amazing people these first weeks, all while taking advantage of living in the beautiful heart of England
How did you first hear about your scholarship?
I first heard about the International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship through my college counsellor; she told me it was an excellent opportunity to showcase my skills and gain recognition. Also, it was helpful to know someone from Peru who had been awarded this scholarship to get an insight into the process.
When I found out I was awarded the International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship, I was extremely happy and thankful that the University appreciated my work and valued my life experiences. I felt I was closer to achieving my life-long dream of studying in Europe, and my effort was rewarded.

I decided to study at the University of Sheffield because of its commitment to student's personal development, to sustainability and to giving all of us the necessary tools to be successful and aware of today's most essential areas and skills. I chose to study Business Management and Economics in particular because it was the program that allowed me to focus on my two greatest interests while concentrating on the theories that I will need to apply when facing different circumstances from the start.
How did you research the University to find out about studying in Sheffield?
To learn more about studying in Sheffield, I took advantage of the University's website to obtain detailed information about my course, job prospectus, and alumni. I also attended webinars and information sessions to know the current staff and students' experiences.
What are you enjoying about your first semester?
During my first semester, I have had the opportunity of meeting the excellent staff of the Economics Department and the Management School. Each one of them has been friendly and approachable. Moreover, I have joined the Women in Business Society as a first-year representative, the University of Sheffield Investment Society as a Long Term Twikker Fund division analyst, and the Latin America Society. Also, I have been elected as the Americas Representative for the International Students' Committee and as the Online Engagement Officer for the Volunteering Committee. Last but definitely not least, I have had the opportunity of meeting amazing people these first weeks, all while taking advantage of living in the beautiful heart of England.
How has (or will) the scholarship benefit your studies?
Being a recipient of the International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship has given me the chance to fulfil my dream of studying abroad, particularly in Europe. It is now allowing me to be more committed and motivated during my studies. I am confident it will continue to give me great opportunities to challenge myself and will enable me to grow.

I hope to continue to develop myself, my interests and my passions. I aspire to continue to be committed to our world's sustainable growth and equity in opportunities. I also see myself working in a sector where I can practice the knowledge and skills I get from my Business Management and Economics course, such as the financial sustainability one or the market research one.
