New Home for the Leonardo Centre

The Leonardo Centre moves into new labs in the Mappin Building Heartspace, February 2021.

Leonardo Lab E011

This month we moved back into the Mappin Building, to state-of-the-art new laboratories in the Heartspace. The Leonardo team now occupies three laboratories on E-Floor of the Heartspace. The main lab, E011 will house the bench top tribometers and test equipment; the Preparation Lab, E211 is the where samples, materials, and sensor preparation takes place; whilst the Metrology Lab E210 is where our surface analysis equipment is located. Despite the lockdown and reduced access to the building our technical team did a superb job of relocating all our equipment and getting us up and running quickly. RA's and PhD students have reoccupied and it is business almost as usual. The new labs compliment our large component and heavy test equipment located in the Lea lab and our bearing test rigs in the Swift Lab. Leonardo looks forward to welcoming you in person to see the great work taking place in this spectacular new facility.
