Funding opportunities for postgraduate research in linguistics at the University of Sheffield

Applicants to Master's and doctoral degree programmes in Linguistics at the University of Sheffield can apply for University Studentships and a range of fellowships offered by external funders. We have an excellent track record of securing funding for our strongest PGR applicants.

Within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities most linguists work in the School of English, in the School of Languages & Cultures, and in the Department of Philosophy. They conduct research that embraces both synchronic and diachronic approaches to the study of language, work within formal and functional frameworks, and employ a range of corpus-based and experimental methods.

Details and application forms are downloadable from the the Graduate Research Office. Visit the Graduate School to find out more about student life at Sheffield.
