Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellows announced

Sheffield Medical School Building

On 5 March 2020 the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust also announced that Drs Catriona Mayland and Sarah Mitchell (specialist and generalist YCR Connect Fellows in palliative care, Department of Oncology & Metabolism) had both been appointed as Churchill Fellows.  They are just 2 of the 141 new Churchill Fellows appointed this year who will travel the world in search of innovative solutions to the UK’s most pressing problems, with a mission to inspire change in their professions and communities when they return.

Catriona is looking forward to learning more about head and neck cancer in India and the Netherlands and the different cultural and societal ways to overcome challenges. She will use her findings to inform clinical guidelines in the UK.

Sarah will be researching new ways to improve palliative care in the primary health sector, in Canada and will share her findings with clinical colleagues and policy makers in the UK, and hopes to publish her work in the British Journal of General Practice.

Both are excited to share the learning from their travels later this year.
