Academic Training Programme
We run an Academic Training Programme designed to help GPs develop academic skills in research and teaching. The NHS has, to date, funded 16 three-year Clinical Academic Training Fellowships all of whom have successfully completed their training. Successful graduates of this programme in the past 10 years include two Chairs and three Clinical Senior Lectureships.
The weekly training sessions are centred around research and teaching and include topics such as reflective practice, small group facilitation skills, developing and operationalising research questions, ethics of research and evaluation.
A series of research seminars is also incorporated into the Academic Training Programme with speakers from the AUPMC and outside Faculty and to which all AUPMC members of staff, GP tutors and postgraduate tutors are invited to attend.
Details of the current programme will be published in the near future.
