Physician Associate Studies

Physician Associate Studies is an opportunity for those with a biomedical background in science who wish to develop a role in clinical healthcare to spend two years on an intensive course designed to prepare them for supervised work as practitioners in the NHS. The course is heavily focused on First Contact care, with extra input on consulting, diagnostic and critical thinking. As much clinical time as possible is spent in General Practice, Accident and Emergency and Medical Admission to allow students to see as many undifferentiated clinical cases as possible during the course to develop their competence.

Medical Education – Module 2

AUPMC faculty co-ordinate and deliver the ‘Teaching and Learning in a Clinical Setting Module’ to those on the course from Primary Care backgrounds who wish to pursue careers as GMC approved postgraduate clinical supervisors for general practice setting. This looks at how to create a learning environment within a clinical team and the responsibilities of assessment – both formative and summative.
