Professor James Catto
James Catto is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Professor of Urological Surgery at the University of Sheffield.
He was appointed Clinical Lecturer in Sheffield following completion of his PhD in 2000 and continued to dual train in Surgery and Molecular Biology.
He was appointed Chair of Urological surgery in Sheffield in 2014.
He has been involved in urological cancer research since completing his PhD and over the last 16 years has focused upon improving the outcomes for patients with bladder cancer through better care, transitional science, clinical trials and patient engagement.
He has worked to improve both the quality and quantity of outcomes for patients with bladder cancer and recognised the lack of information about patient outcomes following treatment. To resolve this, he has developed the Yorkshire Cancer Research bladder cancer PROMS Survey (Life and Bladder Cancer) in collaboration with Adam Glaser at the University of Leeds.
