Music and nightlife

From famous music venues to quirky late night cafes - Sheffield comes alive at night.

Off

Just like in the daytime, Sheffield is a lively, creative, eclectic city after dark. There are classic pubs and boutique bars, every type of live music and some of the best club nights anywhere in the UK.

The best for music

With nearly 70 venues in Sheffield, you’ll be able to find gigs by local and international acts nearly every day of the week.

Venues include the legendary likes of the Leadmill and Sheffield Arena. There’s music in former warehouses (Hope Works), in pubs and bars (The Washington and Bungalows and Bears, for starters), basement ballrooms (Picture House Social), old factories (Yellow Arch Studios) and more.

Our Department of Music’s Concert Programme puts on more than 70 concerts a year, with performances by our students and visiting artists of international standing.

One of the most attractive aspects of Sheffield is its vibrant, exciting entertainment culture. Sheffield is a city you will never find yourself bored in. One of my favourite nights out in Sheffield is to see live music. Whether this is at Sheffield arena where you can watch some of the largest artists in the world. Or at the Leadmill in the city centre, where they often house artists, and offer a small-scale entertainment experience

Big nights out

Sheffield centre is packed with busy clubs and lively bars. You can start your night off by choosing from a huge range of chains and independent bars across Division Street and West Street. Then get on your dancing shoes at places like Corporation or our award-winning Students’ Union. There are student nights at many clubs, with unique themes to enjoy and discounts to be had.

Alcohol-free nights

Sheffield's night scene isn’t all about drinking. It's about finding new things, expressing yourself, sharing good times with your friends and making memories.

Explore late night dessert venues on London Road, challenge your friends at the Treehouse board game cafe or try delicious mocktails on West Street.

I don't drink alcohol, but most bars in Sheffield offer a generous selection of mocktails. Bars such as Revolution have great playlists, amazing student deals for drinks and a great atmosphere
