Introduction

This is the long project for the MSc in International Health Technology Assessment, Pricing and Reimbursement. It has been designed to allow students to integrate their knowledge of health technology assessment, pricing and reimbursement acquired throughout the MSc, using a real or hypothetical case study of health technology to prepare a value case for submission in multiple jurisdictions.

Objectives

This project aims to integrate students’ understanding of the processes involved in developing a health technology and bringing it successfully to market and offer a critical analysis of health technology assessment, pricing and reimbursement in multiple jurisdictions.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the project, students will be able to

• demonstrate their integration of the range of knowledge and skills required to bring a new health technology successfully to market
• produce a value case for a new health technology product, suitable for assessment by reimbursement authorities in multiple jurisdictions
• appraise critically the processes involved in health technology assessment, pricing and reimbursement in multiple jurisdictions

Teaching methods

Five online supervisory meetings will support students as they develop their value case study and their critical appraisal of international health technology assessment processes.

Independent study will enable students to deepen and broaden their understanding of international health technology assessment, pricing and reimbursement, enabling them to complete the value case.

Expectations

Guided independent study will enable students to deepen and broaden their understanding of international health technology assessment, pricing and reimbursement, enabling them to complete the value case. Approximately 600 hours of study time.
