The Department of Urban Studies and Planning is seeking a Research Associate to play a key role on an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded project – ‘Spaces of HOPE' – that is producing the first sustained history of community-led planning in the UK.

The project involves an interdisciplinary team from the University of Sheffield, Oxford Brookes University, Cardiff University, Queen’s University Belfast and Middlesex University. It also benefits from engagement with the Town and Country Planning Association who will act as project partners. The project is combining documentary and archival research with oral history and arts-based, participatory methods such as memory walks and photo elicitation to produce a digital archive of community-led planning.

You will work under the direction of Dr Andy Inch and will be involved in all aspects of project delivery with particular responsibility for liaising with the Digital Humanities Institute at the University of Sheffield to prepare the project website/ archive. You will also be involved in project design; arranging and conducting case-study based fieldwork; analysis of fieldwork data; preparing and producing research outputs for a range of audiences (both academic and non-academic); attending relevant national/international conferences and other dissemination events/activities; and managing project resources.
