This year’s Big Walk will be in aid of the Sheffield Scanner, the University's £2 million fundraising campaign to bring a ground-breaking MRI-PET facility to Sheffield, the first such facility in Yorkshire.

With your help The Big Walk 2017 will raise £100,000 towards the £2 million target. Participants – staff, alumni, students and friends of the University – will walk as far as they can along a circular 50-mile route in 24 hours, from 7am on Friday 30 June to 7am on Saturday 1 July 2017.

The walk will start and finish at the Octagon on the University campus and take in stunning scenery in the Peak District, including Stanage, Burbage, Froggatt and Curbar Edges, the Chatsworth Estate, Bakewell and part of the Monsal Trail.
