The Global Engineering Challenge (GEC) and Engineering, You're Hired! (EYH) have been shortlisted for "Excellence in Work Related Learning" as part of the 2025 Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services' Awards for Excellence.
For over a decade, GEC and EYH modules have provided work-related learning for nearly 3,000 1st and 2nd year undergraduate engineering students annually.
These in-curriculum project weeks extend beyond traditional lectures, equipping students with essential industry insights.

The events give students the opportunity to:
- Tackle real-world engineering problems in developing countries from a global perspective
- Consider not only the technical, but the social, ethical and environmental implications of their decisions
- Consider their future role in improving the world we live in
- Develop team working and problem solving skills
- Work across disciplines to broaden their horizons and subject knowledge
