Department searching for new academics

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering are inviting applications for five new academic positions to join their vibrant community.

CBE is a thriving department within one of the UK's top Faculties of Engineering and one of the top Russell Group Universities. With an extensive research culture spanning Materials & Products, Biological Engineering, Sustainability, and Processes & Systems themes; the department boasts 35 Academics, 40 Researchers, 16 Technical staff, 18 Professional/support staff and 176 PhD students.

CBE are experiencing an exciting period of growth and diversification in both research and teaching, with £3.5m investment in new facilities and £21m research income in the last five years. To underpin this growth, in particular in Pharmaceutical Engineering and to drive forward our ambitious research agenda, we seek to recruit four new Lecturers or Senior Lecturers and one Chair within the following areas:

  • Biological Engineering (focussing on bioprocess engineering or biopharmaceutical engineering to support the Pharmaceutical Engineering programmes)
  • Systems Engineering / Sustainable Engineering (including Energy but relevant to chemical/biological engineering) and
  • Process Safety (to fulfil the ambition of developing excellence in process safety research and education).

Outstanding candidates in other areas of chemical engineering will also be considered. The Department is proud to have held an Athena Swan Silver Award continuously from 2013 and are keen to continue to grow the diversity of their academic staff.
