Why did you choose to study for your degree at Sheffield?
I started working as a mobile application developer in a Silicon Valley-based start-up. After working in different aspects of software development and product engineering, I realised my growing competency needs as well as the increasing popularity of mathematics-based computer science fields that aligned with my career requirements. Therefore, I decided to pursue a Masters in Advanced Computer Science from the University of Sheffield.

What aspects of the programme do you enjoy the most?
The programme is perfect for people like me who wants a break from their job life for a year, to increase their competent knowledge in the trending and advanced subjects of computer science. Another cool fact about this programme is that the students get the luxury of choosing many optional modules according to their career-specific needs. Hands-on assignments go well with learning new streams of computer science.

How do you think your programme will help your career prospects?
After completing my post-graduation in Advanced Computer Science, I would like to pursue my career as a data scientist while bridging the gap of data science and the mobile application industry. My ambition is to make mobile applications based on the models of Machine Learning.

What do you like best about studying at Sheffield?
I like the 1-year duration masters programme at the university, along with the state-of-the-art facilities provided, such as High Performance Computing (HPC) machines. I also love the city of Sheffield as it is extremely clean and so close to nature.

What are your future plans?
I would like to pursue a job as a data scientist/mobile app engineer in California, US.

Any tips for new students?
My suggestion would be to manage your time as soon as you start your programme. Since it is a 1-year course, therefore start early so that you can enjoy cool events happening in the university every now and then.
