What are your main responsibilities in your current role?

I am the General Manager of a Home developing company. I am in charge of the company, some of my activities are: Control of the staff in the company, creating and supervising a sales plan, creating and supervising a plan for rentals and creating new projects. I am also the Chair in design meetings and supervision construction and project management.

Please outline your career history: how did you get to where you are today?

After finishing my master in Sheffield Uni, I started as a freelance project manager, I work in some of the projects that are from the company that I manage now. I got an offer to do a PhD so I paused at my job; before finishing the PhD I had the options of joining academia or going back home and working in industry. A year before finishing the PhD I got an offer for the job, and I took it.

Why did you want to come to the University of Sheffield to study your chosen degree?

Sheffield was at that time among my options because I was offered a full scholarship at the Uni. I also liked the MSc. Architectural Engineering Design programme because it was novel, I actually was part of the first generation of the programme. The programme included exactly the modules that I was interested in, so it was an easy choice.

What were your favourite things about or best memories of the University of Sheffield?

The Latin American society, the Students' Union and the faculty of engineering. As an international student, the experience of getting a postgraduate degree gets better, the University of Sheffield is very organised, the staff are very professional and knowledgeable. The students union is definitely a highlight, it made life easier and funnier during that time.

Please explain how has your qualification and/or time at Sheffield helped you in your career?

An MSc, was the first step before getting a PhD, so it gave me the foundations I needed to pursue a higher degree.

What has been your greatest achievement to date?

Completion of a PhD.
