What first attracted you to join the University of Sheffield?
The opportunity of working for a world renowned Russell Group university, one of the 6 original Red Brick universities. The University values, the commitment to EDI and of course the amazing opportunity to create a new Recruitment Services Team and developing a strategy that helps enable our talent attraction with EDI embedded throughout.
What do you enjoy most about working at the University of Sheffield?
The collegiate approach and working for a word class organisation, that is globally recognised.
What do you enjoy about working with your team/department?
My colleagues, the pride our teams take in driving excellence, the collaborative approach across the service and beyond.
Do you have any favourite memories from working at the University of Sheffield?
Yes many although I have been at the University for a relatively short period, hard to pick a favourite but possibly my first HR Huddle where I got to meet most of my HR colleagues (online for the first time) and then the Christmas party where I got to meet most of my HR colleagues in person for the first time and the list goes on.
Did you move to Sheffield from another area?
Yes from the Wirral
How would you describe the experience of moving here to work and live somewhere else?
The experience was very positive not least through the organisational policies we have, but also through a very warm and personalised onboarding process. As I had a 3 month notice period this included bi weekly catch ups with my line manager and key colleagues and included a full day visit to campus. All of this helped build a sense of belonging well before I started at the University.
What’s your favourite thing about Sheffield as a city?
The green spaces and access to some beautiful countryside.
What would you say to someone who was considering the University as a place to work?
I would say the University is a truly great place to work with brilliant benefits. It has a real focus on EDI, employee wellbeing and continued professional development. If you enjoy working in a thriving, creative community where you have the ability to make a difference this is the place to be.
