What first attracted you to join the University of Sheffield?

I had heard great things about working at the University, and having taken my Masters here I knew that the friendly atmosphere and culture was something I wanted to be a part of. Seeing the alumni that have come from the University of Sheffield makes you realise what a fantastic institution this place is, and helping to continue that really excited me.

What do you enjoy most about working at the University of Sheffield?

The paternoster in the Arts Tower! I genuinely love taking it to and from each floor whenever I can, and tell anybody I can about it (maybe a little bit too much!).

What do you enjoy about working in the department?

We have regular pub quizzes, get togethers, and a Christmas party every year! Everybody in HR is so friendly and there's a real team spirit, right up to the senior managers as well.

Do you have any favourite memories from working at the University of Sheffield?

My first pub quiz where I had to send a picture of my nose for one of the questions!

Did you move to Sheffield from another area?

I was born in Sheffield and spent my childhood here. I moved around a bit to other cities, but Sheffield is unique, the people are friendly and welcoming, and there is a community spirit here, so I chose to come back!

What’s your favourite thing about Sheffield as a city?

The music scene is fantastic. I'm a metalhead and the bands that come out of Sheffield are world-leading. I would also say the mighty Sheffield Wednesday but maybe not at the moment!

What would you say to someone who was considering the University as a place to work?

Do it, you will not regret it. I've worked at other places and I've never felt as so welcomed, respected and happy overall as compared to here. My ideas are listened to, my wellbeing is always considered and it's a great place to work.
