First offer of work
The guidance below is provided to candidates who have been offered casual work or GTA work (on the Sheffield Graduate Teaching Contract) for the first time.
Before you are able to start undertaking work for the University of Sheffield, you will need to complete the following 3 steps:
Step 1
Log into myJobshop, click Start under Things To Do to read / proceed through the pages presented.
Step 2
In order to comply with legislation (Immigration, Asylum & Nationality Act 2006), you are required to present evidence to demonstrate your right to work in the UK before you start work. If you are unable to provide satisfactory evidence, this will result in the offer of work being withdrawn.
If you have not done so already, please follow the guidance below to complete your right to work check at your earliest convenience and no later than your assignment start date.
- If you are a current University of Sheffield student
-
Your right to work check will be undertaken by the Employability & Placements Hub Team.
The type of check the University needs to complete will be based on the documentation you can provide as evidence of your right to work, and will include a virtual or in person check with the Employability & Placements Hub Team.
Please use the following guidance to determine the type of check you will need to undertake.
If you are not sure which check you need, please contact the Employability & Placements Hub Team, who will be happy to assist you.
IMPORTANT: You cannot start work for the University until your right to work check has been completed. This is a legal requirement and failure to comply will have severe consequences. If your hiring manager asks you to start work before this check has been completed, please refer them to our team or you can contact us directly on studentjobshop@sheffield.ac.uk.
- If you are not a student
-
Your right to work check will be undertaken by a colleague in your hiring school.
