Hybrid event - Workroom 1, The Diamond, The Diamond, The University of Sheffield, 32 Leavygreave Road, Sheffield, S3 7RD

Description

This hybrid workshop organised by the AI-Education interest group of Sheffield AI is an opportunity to share ideas about how to bring generative AI, such as ChatGPT and Bard, into the curriculum, to make our work as educators more engaging and more efficient, and to ensure that students use it appropriately.

Now that the university has published its position on AI in learning and now that support services such as 301, the library and Elevate have offered guidance on its use, it is important that departments and individual teachers explore how to explain appropriate uses to students. We can also integrate it into our own teaching practice.

We are calling for 5 minute presentations describing your plans and experiences of generative AI in the curriculum. The two themes were are focussing on in the workshop are:

  • Approaches to explaining to students how to use generative AI appropriately

  • Positive uses of generative AI by lecturers to develop or deliver teaching material
