Statistics MSc
Yiyang first came to study in Sheffield from China for the final year of her BSc Financial Mathematics degree. She continued onto our MSc Statistics course, which she passed with Merit, and hopes to pursue a statistics career in a bank when she returns to China.

I was a student from the joint programme between Nanjing Tech University and the University of Sheffield. I spent the final year of my BSc Financial Mathematics degree here in the University of Sheffield.

Days spent in this world-class university exposed me to the excellent learning atmosphere. With my growing interest in statistics, I decided to continue my postgraduate study with School of Mathematics and Statistics in Sheffield.

This MSc course has equipped me with not only the statistical skills needed to solve practical problems, but also professional skills including teamwork and time management.

As for the dissertation, it has enhanced my ability to learn new materials, developed my independence in learning and overcoming difficulties.

Statistics MSc

I enjoyed the group projects working with people from different backgrounds, during the group cooperation, we learned from each other, helped each other and made progress together.

As for the dissertation, it has enhanced my ability to learn new materials, developed my independence in learning and overcoming difficulties. I’m grateful to the lecturers and staff for their encouragement and support, they are friendly and helpful.

I hope to seek a position in the statistical department of a bank when I go back to China, I believe that the knowledge and ability I gained through this MSc course will benefit me a lot in my future career.

This year's study is a rather exciting and beneficial experience for me, it was full of challenges, but eventually you will find that all the hard work is well worth it.
