Professor Matt Carré - Elected Fellow of the ISEA

Congratulations to Professor Matt Carré who has been Elected Fellow of the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA).

Matt Carre

Matt is now one of only 7 International Fellows of the Association. His work in the field of sports engineering began with his PhD in 1996 just when the ISEA was established and he served as Chief Editor of the Sports Engineering Journal from 2005 to 2007 and was a member of the ISEA Executive Committee (2005-2012; 2014-2017) including various roles such as Treasurer and Secretary. Although Matt’s research activities have expanded to include physical human interactions and bio-tribology he remains active in sports applications and has current projects sponsored by the International Tennis Federation and World Rugby.

Matt said “It was a great honour to accept this Fellowship at the closing ceremony of this year’s ISEA conference, the Engineering of Sport, in front of hundreds of delegates and many colleagues and firm friends that I have worked with over the years. Being an online conference, it was also somewhat surreal to be giving an acceptance speech at midnight in the spare room at home!”.

The International Sports Engineering Association now well into its second decade of existence serves the rapidly growing community of sports engineering academics and practitioners by promoting the field of sports engineering through information sharing between members, the publication of the journal Sports Engineering and the production of the biannual conference, The Engineering of Sport, and support of the biannual conference the Asia-Pacific Conference on Sports Technology.
