Foundation Year

We offer foundation years in engineering and some science subjects. After successfully completing the one-year programme, you're guaranteed entry onto the first year of your chosen BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc/MComp degree course.

The foundation year is for students who want to study engineering or physics, but don't meet the entry requirements to go straight into year one. So if you've studied the right subjects but haven't achieved high enough grades, or you've achieved good grades in unrelated subjects, this could be the route for you.

After successfully completing the one-year programme, you're guaranteed entry onto the first year of your chosen degree. There are a range of courses on offer in each discipline after the foundation year, but you don't have to decide that until you've received your foundation year results.

We accept applications from students with a wide variety of qualifications. The entry requirements differ depending on the degree you'd like to progress onto, the subjects you've studied and the grades you've achieved.
