Visit us on our Open Day to find out more about our range of BA Modern Languages & Cultures degree programmes and the exciting options we offer in the study of eleven different languages and their associated cultures.

Our Open Day is structured to allow you to spend time with the School of Languages and Cultures as well as finding out more about the wider University, campus and city.

School of Languages and Cultures

Join us for our Languages and Cultures talk when you'll find out more about how we teach and support our students to communicate effectively in one, two or three different languages. We will also tell you about our wide range of options in European and post-colonial literature, film, history, politics and linguistics; all designed to help you develop your cultural awareness and understanding.

You also have the chance to take part in our language taster sessions and mini lectures. You will meet staff and students and be able to chat and ask questions about our degrees or about life as a languages student at Sheffield.

The University Open Day is a great way for you to explore life at the University of Sheffield. You can learn about admissions, accommodation, finance, sports facilities and life at our award winning Students' Union.

There are short tours of our library facilities, sports centre and you can take a self-guided tour around campus. You may also wish to take a short bus ride to see our award-winning student accommodation. The University is a 10 minute walk from the city centre and forms a major part of the city's vibrant, friendly atmosphere.

JamesLanguages and Cultures Applicant Open Days

If you apply for a place at Sheffield and receive an offer, we will invite you to come to a School of Languages and Cultures Applicant Open Day. You can book your Open Day after you've received your offer. These Open Days will take place in Spring 2019.

The Open Days will help you form a detailed impression of language study at Sheffield. You will find out about the teaching and support you will receive, the opportunities that await you both in Sheffield and on your year abroad, and why studying languages and cultures with us is your first step to a fantastic future. You will meet our current students too, who can give you a first hand report on studying at Sheffield.

Regardless of which language or languages you are interested in, our Applicant Open Days all take place on the same day. This is so that you can find out about all our language options and the combinations and choices open to you.

If you have any queries, please email or phone on 0114 222 2864.
