  7. Students’ Union (SU) Officers: Update from 2022/23

    • (GC, AF, RF, LH, IJ, DM, AR, JSx, ST, and FV in attendance for this item)
    • UEB received and noted an update from the outgoing SU Officers that summarised their main achievements during their 12 months in office. Particular attention was drawn to the following areas:

      • Student Voice and Changemaking
      • Representation
      • Community
      • Access and Participation
      • Stakeholder Relationships
      • Cost of Living
    • During discussion, Members noted the following points:

      • It would be important for the succeeding Officer Team to be in a position to continue important University-SU work such as that around the Race Equality Charter. There was also scope for enhanced collaborations on areas related to the University’s strategic pillars.

      • The SU was keen to engage with the National Union of Students (NUS) on matters of importance to the sector but to remain independent of it. There was also value in continuing to remain in close contact with the Russell Group on relevant policy matters, which had been productive during 2022/23.

      • The SU’s principal objective during periods of industrial action was to support affected students.

    • UEB thanked the SU Officers for their contributions and dedicated work over the course of 2022/23; the SU Officers recorded their thanks to UEB for their support over the course of their tenures.

  8. Report of the UEB Strategic Advisory Group: Student Recruitment and Population

    • (Meeting Held on 18 May)

    • UEB considered and approved the report, including the Study Abroad fees for 2024/25 as set out in the related paper.

  9. Round Table

    • AMRC: KL updated UEB on the visit of the Chief Executive Officer of Innovate UK to the AMRC.
