  1. Student Recruitment Update

    • (LC, TF, and LM in attendance for this item)
    • UEB received and noted an update on the University’s recruitment for 2023 entry based on the data from 15 May 2023. With regard to undergraduate home (UGH), the upward trend seen in the previous update to UEB had consolidated.

    • With regard to recruitment from mainland China, recent interaction with agents had reinforced the importance of the QS Top 100 World University Rankings.

    • In respect of broader recruitment activities and the engagement of prospective applicants, UEB welcomed the positive level of interest in the June and July Open Days.

    • During discussion, UEB raised and/or noted the following points:

      • The next indicator of intention to study after tuition fee deposits was registration with the ELTC for pre-sessional programmes.

    • UCU Congress: KL reported on the UCU Congress, including the motions denied and passed.

    • Times Higher Impact Rankings: TW reported that the University was ranked 42 in the world in its first participation in the exercise, which measured universities against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

    • WUN Conference: GV updated UEB on the recent event.

    • Industrial Action: IW provided an update on the latest developments.

    • Research Entities Review: SH reminded UEB of the deadline for returning submissions.
