  4. UKRI Funding Service

    • (KXL  in attendance for this item)

    • UEB considered an update on the implications of the UKRI funding service and related risks and mitigating actions, particularly during the implementation phase of the service, including communications with investigators. It was noted that the new service would lead to significant operational and cultural challenges, despite feedback provided to UKRI by the University and other institutions that had largely been ignored.

  6. Report of the UEB Estates and Capital Sub-Group

    • UEB discussed and approved the Report, and related project approvals in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation, including:

      • Dentistry Phantom Head Suite Refurbishment
      • Relocation of workshop and reprographics to Central Annexe Building
  7. Report of the UEB One University Mental Health Strategy Group

    • UEB discussed and approved the Report, noting an update on Student Minds University Mental Health Charter; a review of current practices relating to the response to student deaths; work to develop a Trusted Contacts Protocol; and an update on Staff Mental Health Advisor and in-house Occupational Health service.

  8. Round Table

    • King’s birthday honours process: UEB would discuss the matter on 12 June. In the meantime, Members were asked to submit nominations in the meantime.

    • Executive Structures: KL reported on plans to recommence recruitment for a new Provost & DVC in 2023/24, plans to cover GV’s existing responsibilities from December 2023 until a successor was in post, and interim arrangements.
