How to apply

There are different application processes depending on what you are applying for.

On

Accredited units and modules

If you wish to apply for individual modules at any level or work towards an undergraduate degree, please use this application method. Please be aware that you need to apply for your modules at least 7 weeks prior to the start date. Any additional paperwork we have requested must be received and approved at least 10 working days before the start date of the course.  We are unable to accommodate late applications.

Application

  2. Complete the online application form* - Any additional paperwork we request must be received and approved at least 10 working days before the start date of the course.  Please note we are unable to accommodate late applications.
  3. *(if applying for a unit/module in the Division of Ophthalmology and Orthoptics, please use this application form)*
  4. Please ensure you select the correct academic level for your choice of study as our modules are available at degree and masters level.  If you need help with this please contact ahpnm-admissions@sheffield.ac.uk or call +44 114 222 2030.

Funding

  • Visit our funding page for details of different funding options
  • You will be sent a fees and funding form automatically on submission of your online application form via email.  All applicants are required to print off the form, check and sign. 
  • If you are LBR funded, pass the form onto your senior manager for approval and they should forward it on to your LBR lead - who will then return it back to us if authorised.
  • Please note, all funding is subject to availability. The Admissions Team will contact you if funding is not available, once your completed fees and funding form has been returned. Please forward a sponsor letter with details of how we can invoice for the fee to ahpnm-admissions@sheffield.ac.uk.
  • If your fee is being paid by a sponsor (eg non-NHS employer) please forward a sponsor letter with details of how we can invoice for the fee to our office.
  • If you are self funding, please complete Section 4a of the fees and funding form, sign and return to the Admissions Team. The University will then advise you how to pay your tuition fee online.

Registration

Your place on the course will be confirmed by email once we receive the necessary funding approvals. An offer email with the course start details will be sent to you between 3-6 weeks before the course is due to start. In some cases you may be required to provide further information to support your application and registration on courses that lead to an academic award.

If you are a new student or starting on a new course you will be sent an email with pre-registration activities to complete before you commence your course, you must do these to comply with University Regulations. If you do not receive this email please contact preregistration@sheffield.ac.uk. It is essential to complete the pre-registration steps that activate your university computer account, upload your Ucard photograph and enable your full registration otherwise you will not receive access to your coursework on the first day

If you are a continuing student please access the registration link through MUSE. Please note that continuing students may not have to register if they have already studied a course within the same financial year.

Once you have registered your Ucard will be made and given to you in class or posted to your home address. You must be registered before you can get a Ucard.


Postgraduate programmes

If you wish to work towards an academic award at postgraduate level, use the instructions below to apply for the complete programme instead of applying for each individual module. Please be aware that you need to apply for your programme at least 7 weeks prior to the start date. 

Application

  • View details of the postgraduate programmes offered by each department on our site.
  • Complete the on-line application form
  • A message will appear on screen acknowledging submission of application

If you are self-funding or sponsored, you do not need to complete an additional funding form as your fee payment will be arranged by registry services.

If you are being funded by the NHS contract please follow the steps below.

  • Download and complete the fees and funding form
  • Pass it to your senior manager for approval and they should pass it on to your LBR lead and back to us
  • We will write to you to confirm when funding support has been received

Registration
