Greening our campus
Despite the proximity of Weston Park, the campus itself has limited green space and relatively few trees. As part of our Masterplan, we will make the campus as green as possible, creating a strong overall identity for the University Quarter and adding to Sheffield's reputation as England's greenest city.
We aim to retain as many of our existing trees as we can, as well as planting additional semi-mature new trees and shrubs throughout the campus, particularly along the new walking/cycling spine.
Where possible, we will plant large scale trees, suitable for an urban context, to reflect the wider Peak District landscape around the west of the city.
We intend to improve the biodiversity of the campus as a whole through the greening of many areas and by encouraging wildlife into the campus wherever possible.
