Updates on current disruptions affecting Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) services in University buildings, upcoming works which will affect EFM services and recently resolved issues.

29/10/2026	1673 The Diamond	LIFT 4 in The Diamond is currently out of service following a fault. The external contractor ANSA have assessed the work and will schedule a return visit to resolve the issue.

05/10/2026	George Porter	Lift 1 in the George Porter Building is currently out of service following a fault. Our lift contractor, ANSA, is awaiting replacement parts to complete the repair. George Porter

Lift 1 in the George Porter Building is currently out of service following a fault. Our lift contractor, ANSA, is awaiting replacement parts to complete the repair.

We will update this page as soon as we have an expected return-to-service date.

The server is being rebooted and the swipe system should start working as normal soon.

17/07/2026	Florey	Lift 1 in 1225 Florey is currently out of service following a trapped passenger last night. ANSA are returning today to investigate. Further updates will be provided when available. Update 17/07/2026 12:45 Ansa have been back in this morning and there seems to be a fault with the back up UPS. Because it is a safety issue, the lift has had to be left isolated. Ansa are arranging for the UPS engineers to attend, but we don't yet have a timescale for this. Once we know a timescale then this information will be passed on. Update 20/07/2026 14:45 Lift 1 is now back in service. This is currently operating without backup UPS - this was authorised by the Fire Safety Team. We are currently awaiting a specialist UPS engineer - timescale to be advised.

Lift 1 in 1225 Florey is currently out of service following a trapped passenger last night. ANSA are returning today to investigate.

Ansa have been back in this morning and there seems to be a fault with the back up UPS.

Because it is a safety issue, the lift has had to be left isolated.

Ansa are arranging for the UPS engineers to attend, but we don't yet have a timescale for this.

Once we know a timescale then this information will be passed on.

Lift 1 is now back in service.

This is currently operating without backup UPS - this was authorised by the Fire Safety Team.

We are currently awaiting a specialist UPS engineer - timescale to be advised.

29/06/2026	Richard Roberts (Chemistry)	Over the weekend there has been a major leak from E78 significantly impacting the areas below, corridors and stairwells. The water has been isolated to the equipment causing the leak however the team are on site making the area safe. The building is currently closed. Update: 29/06/26 16:00 - Work has continued throughout the day with drain holes being created in several bulkheads that were holding water back ; It will take some time for the walls/woodwork etc to fully dry out before redecoration can be considered. Further information will be provided as it becomes available .

Our team are currently working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. 29/10/26 Following attendance to site the Paternoster lift will remain out of service, service engineer on site today focusing on lower ground areas. Update - Returned to service.

22/10/2026	1083 Brunswick House	Lift 1 is out of service awaiting a replacement autodialler, once advised of a return to service this will be notified .1 Update 23/10/2026 12:00 Replacement parts are expected to arrive in Manchester by the end of today. Ansa are aiming to fit them on Monday, with a view to having the lift back in operation shortly afterwards. Update; unit repaired and back in service. 29.10.26

Campus Wide and AMRC

We are currently experiencing a server failure affecting the CCURE access control system. As a result, swipe card access is unavailable at affected doors across campus, and some doors are not opening as expected.

The issue has been reported, and our contractor, Gough & Kelly, is working to restore the system as quickly as possible.

We will send a further update once the system has been restored. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while the issue is resolved.

19/10/2026	Arts tower	Arts Tower Lift 2 is stuck at Level 13. The override key has been tried but did not resolve the issue. A job has been raised on Planon for an engineer to attend and investigate.

30/09/2026	Arts Tower 1203 & Firth Court 1204	Following the unplanned power outage last night there are a number of swipe access units off line causing access issues across the Arts Tower & Firth Court, a contractor is on site assessing and restoring each unit .
