Aims and objectives
- Provide an update on infective endocarditis (IE) as a disease and the use of antibiotic prophylaxis of invasive dental procedures for IE prevention.
- Review changes in the guidance provided to clinicians about IE prevention.
- Review new evidence establishing the link between invasive dental procedures and IE and antibiotic prophylaxis's efficacy, safety and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide a strategy for realistic, person-centred care of patients at increased risk
