EEE Student Ben Griffiths Shares His Experience of Taking Part in the Siemens Hackathon
EEE student Ben Griffiths took part in the 48 hour Sir Williams Siemens Mindsphere Hackathon Challenge held at The University of Sheffield in November 2018.
Working with students from other Engineering disciplines and universities, Ben worked as part of a multi-disciplined team to visualise data taken from The Diamond.

The Centre for GaN Materials and Devices hosts the first China-UK Workshop on Wide Band-gap Semiconductor Materials and Devices
In June 2018 over 40 delegates from the UK and China attended the workshop which was supported by the Solid-State Lighting Engineering Research Centre (Xi’an Jiaotong University), the Institute of Physics (IOP) and the Centre for GaN Materials and Devices (University of Sheffield).

An ambitious research project involving the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Physics and the National Epitaxy Facility at The University of Sheffield aims to develop new manufacturing techniques for advanced materials and devices and has been awarded more than £5m in funding.

Sheffield Advanced Detector Centre Awarded First Place
The Sheffield Advanced Detector Centre at The University of Sheffield have been awarded first place by the Journal of Wound Care Awards for Innovation in Surgical Site Infection. This is in recognition of their work on thermal imaging Cesarean Section wounds to predict future infections and reduce the use of antibiotics.
