Profile

I received the B.Eng. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from Xi’an Jiao Tong University in 2001 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2005.

From September 2005 to April 2012, I was with the Centre for Telecommunications Research at King’s College London.

I am interested in the modelling, analysis and algorithm design for improving the performance and efficiency of wireless communication systems.

My current research focuses on heterogeneous and small cell networks, wireless communications in unlicensed spectrum, and cloud/mobile-edge/fog/device-to-device assisted radio access networks.

These are all key enabling technologies for 5G and future mobile communications. I am the lead editor/author of the book “Heterogeneous Cellular Networks – Theory, Simulation and Deployment” published by Cambridge University Press (May 2013) and the book “4G Femtocells: Resource Allocation and Interference Management” published by Springer US (November 2013).

I am co-recipient of the IEEE Communications Society 2017 Young Author Best Paper Award.

I am Editor for the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters and the IEEE Communications Letters, and was Guest Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and the ACM/Springer Journal of Mobile Networks & Applications.

I was Co-Chair of Wireless Communications Symposium for the IEEE International Conference on Communications 2015 (ICC’15), Workshop Co-Chair for the IEEE International Conference on Green Computing and Communications 2013 (GreenCom’13), and have organised a number of workshops on heterogeneous and small cell networks and ultra-dense networks for IEEE ICC, GLOBECOM, WCNC, and PIMRC.
