During routine inspections we've identified that the concrete turret roofs on Firth Court are in need of replacement. We will be undertaking work to remove and replace the roofs and waterproof membranes, as well carrying out other related works, to ensure the continued safety and preservation of one of our most important heritage buildings for future generations.
Work will begin in June with the installation of scaffolding around each of the four turrets of Firth Court; two at the front of the building facing Western Bank (highlighted blue below), and two at the rear facing Weston Park (highlighted red). Every effort will be made to ensure the scaffolding is as discreet as possible.
The project includes:
- Replacing damaged concrete roof decks and roof membranes
- Repairing internal concrete steps
- Replacing selected windows
- Repairs to any other related stone or brickwork, as required
The building and picturesque Quad will remain fully open and operational throughout the works, which we expect to take around a year to complete.
