Employability Team Finalists in Prestigious Industry Awards
The Faculty’s Employability Placement team were shortlisted in the ‘Most Improved Commitment to Employability’ category in the recent National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards 2018.
The team were shortlisted for continuously improving employability services for our students, providing resources, supporting them with their CVs, offering advice and assisting them in applying for and maximising industry placement opportunities.
In the last year, the team has run 450 sessions to support year in industry students, offering CV checks and interview advice. Last year they secured 132 placements, a 69% increase since 2016, in 88 companies across the globe, in all 9 engineering disciplines.
This is a fantastic achievement in itself, congratulations to the team - Ben Short, Sue Woodard and Galina Balikhin - on all their hard work and for their award nomination.
Ben Short, Employability Placement Manager, said: “Despite narrowly missing out to the Leeds STEM Employability team, we were proud to make the final five and to be recognised for our contributions over the last two and a half years, demonstrating the faculty’s commitment to employability.”
Founded by RateMyPlacement, the NUE Awards are the only awards of its kind in the undergraduate market, with the support of industry leading bodies and companies, including AGCAS (the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services), M&S and Microsoft.
