The Department of Geography is pleased to announce a new scholarship in memory of Marion Wiles.

The Marion Wiles scholarship will be available to students on the following masters courses:

There will be twelve scholarships per year for five years, each up to £3,000, to support students choosing to undertake a fieldclass as part of their masters degree. These scholarships will be applied for via a competitive process, and entries will be judged by a departmental panel.

Professor Matt Watson, Head of the Department of Geography, said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer this scholarship, which makes our field classes more accessible for students from lower income backgrounds. Given Marion’s love of geography, dedication to teaching, and particular emphasis on running fieldclasses for students, we feel that this is a fitting tribute to her which will directly benefit students in a way she would have appreciated.”

More information on how to apply for these scholarships will be coming soon.
