Off

There are four different funding routes for our courses:

A. Self-funding

B. Sponsored

C. CPD funding

D. NHS LBR Contract

If you have any questions about LBR funding, funding arrangements or course fees, please contact our enquiry team: hss-admissions@sheffield.ac.uk

A. Self-funding

If you wish to fund your own studies please read the following information to find out the fee for your course:

Individual module/unit tuition fees

Programme tuition fees

If you are attending an accredited course then you will be contacted by Registry Services to make arrangements for the fee payment. Dependent on the fee level, it may be possible to pay your fee in instalments - further details on this are available from Student Fees

If you have any questions or queries about our tuition fees, please get in touch with our Admissions Team (hss-admissions@sheffield.ac.uk).

B. Sponsored

If fees are being paid by a sponsor, you will need to submit a sponsor letter on headed paper to hss-admissions@sheffield.ac.uk. The letter will need to include your full name, the name of the course and the fee. Please read the following information to find out the fee for your course:

Individual module/unit tuition fees

Programme tuition fees

C. CPD Funding

In 2020, the new continuing professional development fund (CPD) for nursing associates, registered nurses, registered midwives and allied health professionals was introduced by the Government.

The CPD fund allocation is £1,000 over 3 years (so £333 per year) per nursing associate, nurse, midwife and AHP. Each Trust receives an allocation to be used to support CPD. Decisions on how this money is spent are made by the individual organisation to enable them to meet organisational priorities. For further information, speak to your Training and Development lead within your organisation (this may be the same person as the LBR lead in some organisations).

As each employer is managing their own CPD allocation -  if you have any enquiries about this, please contact your employer in the first instance.

Applications Process

Your trust/employer may also have a CPD application process and procedure which you will need to follow.

  • For Modules: Apply online for the module you want to apply for.  You will be emailed a fees and funding form to complete. Return your completed fees and funding form at least seven weeks prior to commencement, by emailing it with the confirmation from the signatories to hss-admissions@sheffield.ac.uk
  • For Programmes: Apply online via our website for the programme via the PG online application system. Download and complete the fees and funding form which is available on the relevant course page.

If your application is successful, your employer will be invoiced directly for your course fees at the end of the next quarterly financial reporting period (March, June, September or December).

D. Health Education England LBR/SSPRD funding

Subject to eligibility, if you are a non-medical NHS professional working in the appropriate region, you may be eligible for

  • Yorkshire and the Humber Specialist Skills and Post Registration Development (SSPRD) funding
  • East Midlands Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) funding
  • East Midlands Advancing Clinical Practice (ACP) funding

This type of funding has reduced in recent years and has been replaced by CPD funding (see section C). Only a small number of priority modules which have been agreed by Health Education England in specific areas can now use this funding.

Applicants who have secured LBR/SSPRD funding need to complete a fees and funding form which needs to be countersigned by your LBR lead. Please note, that completion of this form does not guarantee that funding has been secured. Our Admissions Team will inform you if funding is confirmed or not, once your fees and funding form has been received. If there is no HEE LBR/SSPRD funding available, you may either seek to be sponsored by your employer, apply for CPD funding with your employer, or self-fund.

Please note - if you are unsure of your LBR Lead, please click on this link and contact the lead for clarification.

D1: Yorkshire and the Humber SSPRD Eligibility

SSPRD funding is extremely limited to specific modules at specific employers, and is subject to availability and approval.

For the Yorkshire and the Humber region all applications must be approved by the manager(s) within your organisation responsible for approving study. Within South Yorkshire the authorisation of the relevant SSPRD/LBR lead is also required. Please refer to the list of authorised SSPRD/LBR signatories.
