Our commercial partner, InnoLas laser has been developing new laser systems for the project. These are now added to their product portfolio. An example of the new developments is shown below.
The quality of the laser source is extremely important for this project to succeed.
At an early stage, we identified areas we needed to improve on. These include energy stability, beam profile, wavefront and beam coherence.
InnoLas has been able to improve on the state of the art in all these aspects, as shown below.
In addition, InnoLas has developed optimised lasers for the different deposition techniques we use. For example, a high rep rate source for the CVD work at CEIT.
The University’s four flagship institutes bring together our key strengths to tackle global issues, turning interdisciplinary and translational research into real-world solutions.
